She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (Initial Thoughts)

As Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) draws to a close, the cinematic juggernaut's latest Disney+ outing has arrived with  She-Hulk: Attorney at Law  (henceforth referred to as She-Hulk ). Marketed as a superhero lawyer comedy, this 9-episode series follows Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany), a lawyer who just wants to work hard at her job. Oh yeah, she also happens to be the cousin of Bruce Banner aka Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). Taking place sometime after Avengers: Endgame , Jen's mundane life is gets turned completely upside down after an accidental gamma-irradiated blood transfusion from her cousin gives her the ability to turn into a Hulk as well. Jen now has to learn to juggle her superhuman side with her everyday job as a lawyer so without further ado, let's see what goes on in the first episode. INITIAL THOUGHTS AND COMMENTS (SPOILER ALERT) She-Hulk 's first episode is a short and sweet one, clocking in at only around half an hour. We get introduced to o...

Ms. Marvel (Series Retrospect)

The MCU has always been larger than life, with countless stories that dwarf the previous one in scale and magnitude. With the recent announcement that Phases Four through Six will be known as the Multiverse Saga, things will only get bigger from here. That's a huge contributing factor to why I thoroughly enjoyed  Ms. Marvel , for the series was a big departure away from the MCU's usual direction and focused on telling a self-contained story with a lot of heart. Without further ado, let's dive in. SERIES RETROSPECT AND REVIEW (SPOILER ALERT) Introduction : While its place in the timeline hasn't been officially confirmed,  Ms. Marvel  likely takes place in 2025, a couple years after the events of Avengers: Endgame . We follow the story of Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), a Pakistani-American high schooler struggling to formulate her own identity. Our young protagonist idolises Carol Danvers, the superheroine known as Captain Marvel, but her constant fantasies about her idol ar...

Ms. Marvel (Initial Thoughts)

Don't look away now because the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has just released their latest Phase Four Disney+ outing with  Ms. Marvel . A coming-of-age story that many youngsters can relate to, this series follows Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), a Pakistani-American teenager who deals with the struggles of reality as a high school student while juggling her fantasies of and love for the superheroine Captain Marvel. Taking place sometime after Avengers: Endgame , our titular heroine does her best to forge her own path, a task made all the more difficult by the added curveball of gaining superpowers. Without further ado, let's dive in. INITIAL THOUGHTS AND COMMENTS (SPOILER ALERT) Kamala Khan is a total fangirl of Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel, making YouTube videos about her and just all-around idolising her. She constantly daydreams about being like her favourite superheroine, much to the chagrin of her strict immigrant parents, who thinks she spends too much time with her h...

Hawkeye (Series Retrospect)

It's no secret that the MCU is going bigger than ever before, in no small part due to the multiversal shenanigans of other Disney+ series. In such a cosmic environment, it's easy to forget the little guy and more grounded stories, which is why Hawkeye  was such a joy for me to watch. Telling a heartfelt story that reintroduced us to our titular archer, introduced some new ones and brought back some old faces, this series was a pretty fun ride throughout. Without further ado, let's get started.  SERIES RETROSPECT AND REVIEW (SPOILER ALERT) Introduction : Hawkeye  takes place in the Christmas period of 2024, specifically lasting from 19-25 December 2024. After reuniting with his family post- Avengers: Endgame  (henceforth referred to as Endgame ), Clint Barton has hung up his bow and wants to make up for lost time. Unfortunately, ghosts from his past haunt him in the form of his Ronin persona, with his darker alter ego continuing to create more problems for him even af...

Hawkeye (Initial Thoughts)

Phase Four has expanded the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in big ways, from the multiversal shenanigans of Loki  and What If...?  to the more recent events in cosmic epic Eternals . The cinematic juggernaut that is the MCU isn't slowing down anytime soon and as things continue to get bigger, sometimes it's nice to focus on the little guy. That's where our latest Disney+ series Hawkeye  comes into play. Taking place sometime after Avengers: Endgame , our titular archer has to pick up his bow once again to face down figures from his dark past, picking up a new protégé along the way. Let's take a closer look. INITIAL THOUGHTS AND COMMENTS (SPOILER ALERT) The first 2 episodes of the series lay the foundation for our characters, reintroducing us to Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) and introducing us to Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), as well as set the stage for our story. After reuniting with his family 5 years post-Thanos' snap, Clint is making up for lost time, bringing...

What If...? (Initial Thoughts)

It's no secret that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is starting to fully embrace the multiverse, especially with the release of Disney+ series like WandaVision   and Loki . Most importantly, the latter ended with the female Loki variant Sylvie killing He Who Remains, thereby splintering the Sacred Timeline and creating countless timeline branches, which will no doubt lead to a ton of multiversal shenanigans. Join us as we take a look at the chaos of the newly formed multiverse through the lens of our next Disney+ outing and the MCU's first animated product, What If...? . Let's dive in. INITIAL THOUGHTS AND COMMENTS (SPOILER ALERT) In order to comprehend what this new series is supposed to represent or showcase with regards to the MCU, we have to first understand the source material it's based off. "What If" stories were basically Marvel Comics' way of retelling key moments/events that occurred in their mainstream continuity (Earth-616) and in the inaug...

Loki (Series Retrospect)

I think it's safe to say that my mind has been completely blown after this series. What a mad way to end one of the craziest outings that the MCU has given us thus far. It's no secret that we're going cosmic, on a far larger scale than in the Infinity Saga and Loki  has just further cemented that by going all-out multiversal. In recent months and weeks, the MCU has delved into more grounded stories with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier  as well as Black Widow  (check out my review if you haven't already) but Marvel Studios' latest Disney+ series is pulling out all the stops to let viewers know that nothing will ever be the same again. Without further ado, let's dive right into the crazy timey-wimey shenanigans of our titular hero.  SERIES RETROSPECT AND REVIEW (SPOILER ALERT) Introduction : Compared to the previous Disney+ series, it's a little harder to place Loki  on a specific spot in the timeline because of the otherworldly nature of the series' eve...
