With my weekdays spent in an office from 9-6, this semester was a special one to say the least, for I embarked on my full-time internship during the academic sem. Having spent the previous 4 sems with my nose in the books, this was something totally new for me and choosing to do 1 course along with my internship made it tougher. This post will focus primarily on breaking down my internship experience so let's get right into Part 5 of my NUS Course Reviews. After Year 1 Semester 2, I told myself I couldn't suffer through another 28-unit semester. But here I was this sem, with the same workload once again. This sem has been an interesting one, not only because I took more higher level courses but also because of my experience as a teaching assistant (TA) under the Undergraduate Teaching Opportunities Programme (UTOP). For most NUS students, Year 2 Semester 1 marks the first time that we step out of the protective S/U bubble, with only 12 units worth of S/Us left for our remaining 3 AYs. This means needing to put in more effort and making sure you're really on top of all your courses, something that might be a big change from Year 1, especially if you want to maintain your Honours classification. Many NUS seniors will probably tell you that Year 1 Semester 2 is the time for you to do "limit-testing" and making use of your S/Us by overloading more courses. So of course, that's what I did and boy was that a mistake. I was still fairly free last semester but my goodness, taking on 2 extra courses really increased the workload by a wide margin.
