NUS AY 23/24 Sem 1 Course Review

With my weekdays spent in an office from 9-6, this semester was a special one to say the least, for I embarked on my full-time internship during the academic sem. Having spent the previous 4 sems with my nose in the books, this was something totally new for me and choosing to do 1 course along with my internship made it tougher. This post will focus primarily on breaking down my internship experience so let's get right into Part 5 of my NUS Course Reviews. Disclaimer 1: As a CHS student doing a double major in Communications and New Media (CNM) and Management, as well as a Minor in Korean Language Studies, my reviewed courses will be almost exclusively CNM, Business, CHS and Korean courses with very few exceptions if any. Disclaimer 2: All of the following courses were taken in AY 23/24 Sem 1 and the structures of these courses MAY BE DIFFERENT in subsequent sems. All views expressed in this article are my own so please only take this review as an unofficial guide. More detailed in...

NUS AY 22/23 Sem 2 Course Review

After Year 1 Semester 2, I told myself I couldn't suffer through another 28-unit semester. But here I was this sem, with the same workload once again. This sem has been an interesting one, not only because I took more higher level courses but also because of my experience as a teaching assistant (TA) under the Undergraduate Teaching Opportunities Programme (UTOP). This was also my first sem taking courses that can't be S/Ued so it was even scarier. There's a lot of stuff to unpack here so without further ado, let's dive into Part 4 of my NUS Course Reviews. Disclaimer 1: As a CHS student doing a double major in Communications and New Media (CNM) and Management, as well as a Minor in Korean Language Studies, my reviewed courses will be almost exclusively CNM, Business, CHS and Korean courses with very few exceptions if any. NUS AY 22/23 Sem 1 Course Review

For most NUS students, Year 2 Semester 1 marks the first time that we step out of the protective S/U bubble, with only 12 units worth of S/Us left for our remaining 3 AYs. This means needing to put in more effort and making sure you're really on top of all your courses, something that might be a big change from Year 1, especially if you want to maintain your Honours classification. With tougher courses throwing me for a loop, it's time to explore Part 3 of my NUS Course Reviews. Disclaimer 1: As a CHS student doing a double major in Communications and New Media (CNM) and Management, as well as a Minor in Korean Language Studies, my reviewed courses will be almost exclusively CNM, Business, CHS and Korean courses with very few exceptions if any. IVE - After LIKE

As one of the newest K-Pop artistes on the block, IVE has been making their mark on the industry, not only as one of the tallest girl groups out there but also one of the most talented. Cranking out comebacks every 4 months or so, Starship Entertainment's latest girl group has returned once again, this time with a distinctly retro sound. Our girls are entering completely new territory here so without further ado, let's check out their third single album "After LIKE" and their title track of the same name. Meaning : Much like IVE's previous two title tracks, After LIKE is a love song, in fact obviously so. From the title alone as well as through the lyrics, we can clearly tell the girls are singing about something that comes "after like", namely love. With such lyrics like "it's more than 'LIKE'" and "it's beyond 'LIKE'", the girls are quite literally pointing out that what they're feeling is the next step a...

BLACKPINK - Pink Venom

It has been almost 2 years since BLACKPINK had their last comeback, with Lovesick Girls having been dropped in October 2020. Blinks have been completely starved of new music from the group for what seemed like eternity but finally, YG Entertainment's resident girl group has made their long-awaited return with their second album "Born Pink". With the insane amount of hype that has built for this release, will the quartet meet expectations or fall short trying? Without further ado, let's check out their latest title track Pink Venom.  Meaning : It is not easy to figure out the meaning of Pink Venom and it is only after listening to main rapper Jennie's explanation in a video I found that I actually understand what's going on. This is a song promoting the group's charisma and power, evident in the pre-choruses where the members sing about being "a flower with venom" and "[bringing] pain". In the bridge, the girls also challenge their presu...
